Why invest in wedding co-ordinator training?

Building Your Wedding Venue Team, Wedding co-ordinator training
Today’s film tackles the subject of training of wedding co-ordinators and the benefits of investing in this for great returns.
1. Hire for Passion, Train for Skill – this I wholeheartedly believe in. You can’t teach a passion and enthusiasm but I don’t think our industry is short of the enthusiasm, but it is short of the practical knowledge!
2. Young, capable wedding co-ordinators make up 90% of the industry and are often the vital first point of contact for bridal couples getting in touch.
3. PR & marketing efforts can fall down if the first contact doesn’t deliver and follow through the experience you have been projecting – this is often through lack of training and a lack of understanding of customer’s expectations particularly when tackling the luxury market.
4. Confidence is King! This is projected to potential clients very directly in co-ordinators being able to ask the right questions, obtain the right info, fill the clients with the confidence of what is possible in your spaces and what couples are looking for and there is also a chance to up-sell!
5. Wedding clients are discerning, inexperienced and come with an expectation for your wedding co-ordinator to problem solve and deliver their perfect day. Investing in making them the best that they can be is vital.
6. What should you train specifically:
- Knowledge of wedding trends and timetabling
- Knowledge of wedding products, service and pricing
- Operational knowledge of how the day flows and runs – F&B, banqueting – show the office team how it really runs on the day!
- What goes into a civil ceremony and how it works
I see first hand the boost some simple training can give to wedding teams!
