Marketing Your Wedding Venue
Marketing Your Wedding Venue
Growth in the UK wedding planning business has flourished before our eyes over the past 10 years and we have found that Planners themselves are playing an integral part in a venue’s growth and development within the wedding market.
Today I’d like to share with you a client case study detailing exactly how we worked with one of our ambitious venue clients, introducing them to the wedding planning market in order to reach a wider audience that would best fit the venue following an extensive company relaunch.
Please step forward, 113 Chancery Lane….
Had you heard of it?
We certainly hadn’t but it’s rather lovely.
Known as The Law Society, this professional association represents and governs solicitors for the jurisdiction of England and Wales. Following an exciting relaunch of its events operation and name change to 113 Chancery Lane, the team were now looking to enhance their presence in the exciting world of weddings and commissioned us at Kelly Chandler Consulting to help introduce them to the very best London-focussed planners.
Centrally located in the heart of legal London; 113 Chancery Lane certainly doesn’t disappoint and has immediate curb appeal with its historic columns, pillars and grand gateway for those ‘first impression’ bridal photos. It boasts a superb blend of central convenience, yet is subtle and secluded.
With a thriving membership during the week, they are excitingly an exclusive use weekend wedding location, something that can accommodate nearly everything for the modern bride of today.
Classic grandeur with big proportions, lofty ceilings, sweeping staircases and amazing versatility across the various spaces, it’s ideal for a wedding that wants to move around and create different looks across their celebration with a focus on heritage & classic styling.
With various civil ceremony locations within, they can accommodate up to 140 guests for dinner/dance and 180 for dinner – great for those slightly larger capacities and are proud to be home to a vibrant in-house events team with a can-do attitude, all key ingredients to one astounding city jewel we say!
Called in to help
Our service included advice on how best to showcase their new exciting offering amongst the current and ever changing market. We carefully selected, invited and managed an exclusive guest list of well-known and highly regarded Wedding Planners, all with the correct target clients to bring business via their couples to 113 Chancery Lane.
With our expert knowledge, we were able to advise appropriately on the correct event format, layout, styling and details to ensure all expectations were exceeded and help intricately plan and deliver the perfect wedding event to make a new audience aware of this hidden gem in central London.
In essence, this would help the in-house team to build upon their wedding connections, filling them with the confidence to co-ordinate and deliver every key component.
Wednesday 19th September
The morning started with assisting the team in the crucial and meticulous set up to ensure every guest was wowed with the experience they received.
We worked closely with Emily & Jo stationers to create and demonstrate beautiful invitations, menus and place names which were all fitting with the cosy woodland theming for the main dining room.
A statement circular bar was set at the foot of the room to host a spectacular drinks station serving Nyetimber Champagne for guests upon arrival.
Arrivals commenced at 12 noon, where a continuous conveyor belt of mouth-watering morsels circulated the room whilst a saxophonist filled the space with soft tones creating a warm and welcoming environment.
Following ‘sips of sparkles’ and a brief speech welcoming guests, all were called to sit at the spectacularly dressed central table where an imaginative menu would be served with a ‘meet the Chef’ experience. Lobster doughnuts anyone, err yes please! It was an experience that did not disappoint.
The wedding planners sat, ate and drank whilst soaking up the historic atmosphere, all the time sharing news and views and getting to know one another. Each course was complemented by one of Nyetimber’s very own scrumptious sparkling wines, where Julian of Nyetimber filled us in on the story behind what they do and shared the secrets on what makes their products so successful and more importantly tasty!
After a relaxed dining experience, guests were then encouraged to take a short walk for some ‘dessert theatre’ through their unique and jaw-dropping archway leading onto their main reception space.
With original wood panelling, stained-glass windows and gold chandeliers that adorned the room like glistening jewels, it demonstrated to all the planners how versatile the venue and its spaces could be.
A true feast for all eyes!
Mini magnums were decorated by hand as you stood and watched in anticipation to taste. With the option to then cascade with a variety of different toppings and treats. It was something that created a talking point and simply was the cherry on everyone’s cake.
As the event came to a close at 3pm, the remaining guests made the most of the last opportunity to help themselves to one final coffee or sweet Nyetimber dessert wine and exchange a few final words amongst new friends.
‘It truly has been an amazing memorable experience.’
The results
With helping make these invaluable introductions, it’s given the team at 113 Chancery Lane the confidence to build a strong and solid foundation with powerful wedding connections.
The event has now given the venue endless possibilities to expand and develop their wedding presence amongst a vibrant, fresh and new wedding market.
