I stand for a healthy planet that thrives for ourselves and for future generations and I believe we need to address climate change.

I’m passionate about the outdoors, nature and wildlife and am forever inspired by the strong eco-credentials of many of my private clients, often from generations of careful land stewardship via farming.

We know that the celebration of weddings and the gathering of people for similar life milestone events are carbon-emission heavy yet carry such personal significance and cultural relevance. I believe change comes from how industries operate and evolve and how we find balance in our own choices and inspiring those around us to consider and curate their choices.

I also don’t believe in perfection in the sustainability journey but I do believe in continuing to make informed, considered and better choices. I am committed to being involved in conversations around change. Part of that was completing study in 2023 with the Sustainable Wedding Alliance and their Carbon Literacy Training.

My specific sustainability pledges

Here are some of the things I’ve have changed as a boutique consultancy business since that training:

  • Switching my car to a plug in hybrid from a diesel vehicle and likely to switch to full electric over the next 1-2 years

  • Roof Insulation and window replacement work at home/office to help energy efficiency which is from 100% renewable sources

  • Doubling down on our family food provenance - an extra effort to buy local and seasonal on our fresh food - this has so many Co-benefits for our nutrition and health plus supporting local business and British farming (again many of my clients are farmers with wedding and event business diversifications).

  • Opening up the conversation, challenging and sharing knowledge with friends, family, venue clients and other wedding professionals to encourage others to make change.

What’s a work in progress

  • To switch personal and business banking to those financial institutions investing consciously in green projects and away from fossil fuels.

  • To make checks on how my business technology is powered, ensuring it’s fully using renewable energy.

I'm determined to keep taking the steps, to listen, to learn and to lead where I can as a sustainable wedding venue consultant.
